Q. For the Insight® user, what is the easiest way to enter points into trend in order to document temperature, humidity, etc?

Starting with Insight revision 3.6, the Trend Definition Editor provides a Trending Wizard to simplify the process of creating trend definitions for multiple points, adding the points to a Trend Collection Report, and scheduling the report. The Trending Wizard allows the user to navigate from the beginning to the end of the entire trend collection process—without leaving the Trend Definition Editor.

Once you have navigated through the dialog boxes and have provided the required information for collecting trend data, the Trending Wizard processes the information and sets up the scheduling, trending and reporting of the trend collection.

To configure a trend definition using Trending Wizard, follow four basic steps:

• Select points to trend.
• Configure trend settings.
• Configure report settings.
• Schedule a report.

When finished, the Trending Wizard displays a summary log of all the trending changes for air temperature, humidity, static pressure, etc. This handy report can has many uses, from evaluating a building’s energy consumption to monitoring a pharmaceutical manufacturer’s compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.
