The power of one: Using single-service vendor reduces costs, improves efficiencies

Did you know that Siemens Building Technologies services all makes and models of fire alarm systems? This offering is part of a broad range of fire alarm and life safety services, tailored to varying needs and budgets. Facing pressure to minimize false alarms, meet stringent insurance and fire code requirements, improve efficiencies and reduce costs, many facilities managers are reaping the benefits of a single-source vendor. These benefits include:

  • Objective, detailed inspection on all major brands and models, including: SimplexGrinnell®, Notifier®, Gamewell and many others. Inspection services are insured and bonded, and technicians are certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
  • One-stop shopping convenience for ordering parts. Siemens has national access to new parts on the above brands, plus: Edwards, Fire Control Instruments (FCI), Kidde-Fenwal, Wheelock, Fire•Lite®, Power-Sonic, BRK Electronics®, Chemetronics®, Hochiki and Home Safeguard. Through its supplier, Siemens can provide aggressive pricing on new parts and reconditioned parts as well as repair services. This is a reliable alternative for managers who don’t like being tied to an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and its proprietary programs and panels.
  • Expertise beyond the Fire and Life Safety system. Managers who turn to Siemens for all building functionsHVAC, Mechanical and Security in addition to Fire and Life Safety—have the convenience of calling only one vendor instead of three or four, as is the case with many facilities managers.
  • Peace of mind—knowing that your system will work properly when you need it to. Tired of working with a patchwork of local vendors providing an inconsistent level of service? Whether your organization has a single building or has hundreds of facilities across the country, Siemens can provide a standard level of service, with a national staff of technicians trained in best practices. Regardless of location, Siemens provides the same type of service ticket, inspection procedures and service report—to ensure consistent and accurate record-keeping.

To meet all needs and budgets, Siemens offers the following services:

  • Verification Services—For organizations on a tight budget, Siemens can provide a test and inspection on a specified percentage of a system—that is, only the components specified by the facilities manager. This independent verification of code compliance adds credibility to an in-house testing program.
  • codeLINK™ Service—This plan provides the basic system testing and documentation as required by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and regulations—to meet local, state and nationally recognized testing requirements. Additional testing or flexible scheduling can be customized for specific needs. These services include annual system configuration audit and report, total system test and inspection— and detailed documentation and reporting. Services also include a Life Safety System Log book, on-call service, 24/7 response to any fire alarm emergency situation and more.
  • codeLINK PLUS™ Service—More than a test-only service, this flexible plan allows a facilities manager to customize a program that satisfies a facility’s specific testing and maintenance needs. The package can include any one of the services in codeLINK, plus: system software updates for all Siemens microprocessor-based systems, and timely parts replacement or repair of defective parts in most systems.
  • Emergency services— Technicians are on call and available 24/7, and the level of response can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the facility. For example, telephone and on-site response procedures are customized for each customer, assuring the protection of people and property around the clock.
  • Monitoring services— 24/7 surveillance by Siemens’ UL® listed monitoring station can be added to any service agreement or provided as a separate agreement. In the event of an emergency, Siemens dispatchers will direct emergency personnel to the scene and keep the facility manager informed.

For more information on the above services, send an e-mail message and it will be forwarded to your local Siemens office. Please include your name, job title, name of organization, location and work telephone number.
