New Siemens training web site offers customer a convenient, cost effective way to learn about its building technology products
BUFFALO GROVE, IL -- January 2002 -- In an effort to make training easily available to its customers, Siemens Building Technologies (SBT), Inc., has launched an innovative customer-training Website, www.learningcenter.sbt.siemens.com.
“We realize that it’s not always convenient for customers to attend our on-site training programs,” says Timothy Foor, a senior training specialist with SBT. “ Our new web site is designed so that customers can benefit from state-of-the-art SBT training without leaving their offices. It’s also a very cost-effective way to learn how to operate our products to achieve maximum systems performance and cost savings. .”
The virtual learning center currently has five training modules up and running:
1. APOGEE Field Panel Operations: an operator and maintenance course for the System 600 APOGEE Field Panel. Course topics include: hardware, objects, interface, system configuration, network, and point databases and reports.
2. Introduction to Distributed Digital Control: an entry-level course for personnel who may have mechanical backgrounds but lack an overall understanding of how Distributed Digital Control functions. Course topics include: points, databases, and DDC system operation.
3. Network Basics for Computer Networks: a course for building personnel who want to increase their knowledge of computer networks, and for system administrators who interface with information systems personnel about networks.
4. APOGEE Insight Scheduler Application Module One: a course for building personnel who want to increase their knowledge of the terms and concepts associated with the Scheduler application, learn to navigate the Scheduler application, and learn to schedule an event.
5. APOGEE Insight Scheduler Application Module Two: a course for APOGEE Insight operators and administrators who have a need to understand and perform advanced building operations using the APOGEE Scheduler application

According to Foor, SBT will continue to add courses to the site. This month, three more courses will be added: APOGEE Trending Application, APOGEE Insight Basics and a course on the APOGEE Report Builder and Report Viewer.
