Siemens addresses energy symposium; names key market factors in 2002.
BUFFALO GROVE, IL – March 2002 -- Richard Costello, principal of energy consulting services for Siemens Building Technologies presented the keynote address at “Facility Strategies 2002 – Energy”, an invitation-only symposium held on March 7, 2002 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland. In attendance were facility executives, corporate officers and key decision makers responsible for developing energy cost containment strategies.
The “National Energy Outlook” presentation outlined natural gas generation as the key paradigm shift that will most affect electricity procurement and prices in 2002. Costello also detailed other market factors, such as supply, storage and demand, commodity pricing, legislative and regulatory directions for utility industry restructuring, and purchasing methodologies and their potential impact on large energy users.
Costello is a leading authority in the new field of competitive energy procurement consulting for commercial, institutional and industrial users. He served as president of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) in 2000 and is presently the Chairman of AEE’s National Energy Policy Council, which advocates the industry’s need for a balanced national energy policy. He created the AEE’s certification program for Energy Procurement Professionals (CEPs) and teaches the popular 3-day seminars, “Fundamentals of Buying & Selling Energy,” throughout the US.
