New user-customized Remote Rotification Option to Insight® 3.3 for Siemens Apogee delivers 24/7 alarm alerts to staff on or off the job

BUFFALO GROVE, IL – January 2002 – The new system-wide Remote Notification optionRENO screenshot (RENO) to Insight® 3.3 for the APOGEE™ building management and control system from Siemens Building Technologies sends user-designated alarm messages and system event information to facility staff pagers, phones or e-mail accounts wherever staff is, on or off the job.

Flexible and sophisticated, RENO works with native APOGEE and integrated third-party system points to free operators from full-time alarm and system event workstation monitoring. Fully integrated with Insight, RENO runs on the same PC in a Windows NT or 2000 environment so no additional computer hardware is required. It sends pager messages in both numeric and alphanumeric formats.

Always active whether users are logged-on to the Insight workstation or not, RENO is easily customized by users to meet their individual facility resource and operational needs. RENO flexibility advantages are:
  • Device grouping: Notifies multiple devices, such as the boiler maintenance group, when they need to know about critical messages.
  • Device scheduling: Notifies only those devices you have designated to receive remote messages according to a user-defined availability schedule.
  • Notification escalation: Notifies sequential devices on a pre-determined list if prior contacts do not acknowledge receipt of notification or the point remains in an alarm condition for a pre-specified amount of time. Fail-safe feature helps avoid costly critical alarm system shutdown and failures.
  • Heartbeat: Notifies designated devices that the system is functioning properly.
  • Manual message: Allows operators to type messages and send to remote devices on-demand rather than result of system alarm or event.

RENO requires at least one dedicated analog phone line and modem for notification dial out. It supports TAP (telelocator Alphanumeric Protocol) compliant service providers for notification to alphanumeric pages.

With RENO on the job, your facilities personnel are free to attend to facilities and occupant needs, knowing should alarms or events occur that demand their attention they’ll be notified, wherever they are on or off the job.
