New Utility
Cost Manager from Siemens Improves Facility Performance, More Accurately
Allocates Tenant Costs
Converts
raw meter data into useful utility information for better cost control
Raw
meter data alone doesn't provide the most useful information about
a building's energy use and overall efficiencies.
Fortunately,
Utility Cost Manager from Siemens Building Technologies does capture,
analyze and process raw meter data to help building managers fine-tune
systems performance and better allocate costs for building areas,
including tenant spaces. Utility Cost Manager is a new InfoCenter Suite application for Siemens'
popular APOGEE®
building management and control system.
Utility
Cost Manager also enables building managers to create virtual meters
and submeters to track energy use in non-metered building areas.
Utility
Cost Manager helps analyze:
- Energy Use.
Provides building-load-profile reports for all utilities to: track
and set baselines and identify areas for energy improvements;
document efficiencies of major equipment to verify savings of
capital improvement projects, and facilitate energy procurement.
- Systems Performance.
Tracks period consumption with year-to-date performance for operational
benchmarking; reports daily consumption values per utility service,
including value and time of maximum demand.
- Cost Allocation.
Defines meter data in a logical structure to associate meters
with a particular user or department and allocate utility costs
over a group of users; assigns average utility costs at the meter
level by effective date, so costs can be more directly allocated;
and offers flexible reporting and automatic aggregation to capture
and report costs at various levels in the organization.
- Tenant Billing.
Provides cost breakdowns for energy consumption in applications
where blended costs are accepted for tenant billing, based on
the allocation criteria described in Cost Allocation, above.
- Budget Tracking.
Improves the budget process, especially as deregulation of utilities
begins to affect traditional fixed rates, by facilitating budget
tracking through its Allocation Reports that include a Fiscal-Year-To-Date
field for both consumption and costs for each utility.
Specifically
designed to archive, manage and retrieve large amounts of data,
InfoCenter Suite, on which Utility Cost Manager resides, provides
a solid foundation for data storage and retrieval to track, analyze
and document facility energy use. The application can reside on
familiar Windows® NT, Windows 95 or Windows 98 platforms.
