New Life Safety Option from Siemens Building Technologies provides direct two-way communication from workstation to automation and fire alarm systems

Buffalo Grove, IL -- April 2002 – A New Insight® Life Safety Option from the Building Automation Division of Siemens Building Technologies, Inc., provides a direct interface between UL-Listed Insight building automation workstations and Siemens fire alarm systems. With the Life Safety option installed system operators, maintenance, and emergency response personnel can monitor and control their fire alarm, security, and automation systems from a single workstation or network of workstations through a facility. Data from the fire alarm system is shared with the building automation  system and any other integrated system. This allows the facility management systems to automatically respond to changes in the fire alarm system. Applications include primary fire and security annunciation from the APOGEE™ workstation, smoke control, lighting control; door control via the security system; automatic CCTV operation; as well as any other shared building application where system interoperability is required.

Insight with the Life Safety Option allows fire, security, and automation systems to be tied directly to a single workstation or network of workstations residing on a common Ethernet backbone. Through the use of event routing and operator access levels, facility information can be effective routed to those who need it, when they need it, without overwhelming personnel with data that is not relevant to their needs.
