Welcome! In this Issue...
Our aim is to provide you with the products and answers you need to deliver superior combustion control
solutions to your customers. So what’s on your customer’s mind as we brace for the winter months ahead?
Controlling rising fuel prices and the impact on the bottom line. This opens the door for OEM burner/boiler reps to
offer energy-saving solutions to their customers. Now’s a great time for you to talk to your customer’s about the
benefits of the LMV Linkageless Burner Management System – the focus of this month’s e-newsletter.

Customer Corner |

John Hilton is with GVA Northwest, LLC, a burner/boiler
manufacturer’s rep in Portland, Oregon. One of his customers
is DariGold, a high volume consumer milk products producer
that uses steam boilers in their ultra-pasteurization process.
DariGold was tired of the limitations inherent in a linkage-type
boiler control system. John recommended retrofitting with the
LMV52 linkageless system for this 1000HP boiler. Click here

Little Fact!
Did you know… while they
have been widely accepted
in North America for about
the last six years, Siemens
first introduced a linkageless
system 20 years ago. The
design has been updated
over the years, and oxygen
feedback is now available
as an option, but the basic
concept of precise linkageless
control hasn’t changed.
Save the Date!
Don’t miss us at the
AHR Air Expo, January 29-31, 2007 at the Dallas Convention Center. We’ll be at Booth #2326 with the latest technology in
combustion controls. See
you there!

| Moving to Linkageless Burner
Management Systems |
|
The O2 Trim System optimizes control of the burner and reduces energy costs. The SQM4 actuators are available in torque ranges of 27, 180 or 320 in.-lbs. for highly accurate and reliable control.
to prevent detection of the spark or
its reflection. The detector is self-checking and
approved for use on burners that operate on a continuous basis.
The self-checking function
has no moving parts to ensure reliable
operation and long-life.
As a solution provider for your customers, you’ll
feel more than confident selling the LMV
system. With world-wide approval and
top-notch technical support, you’ll know you are
delivering a fully integrated system that is not
only easy to install and use, but also provides
improved burner performance and efficiency,
and ensures accurate control and safe
operation.

You Should Know
Meet Victor Grazian,
National Account
Manager, Siemens
Combustion Control
Products. After several
years of field work with
customers around the
country, Victor can tell you
a burner will achieve its best performance if it
has Siemens linkageless controls on it.
Looking for ways to reduce installation and
start-up commissioning costs? Victor
recommends having your burner manufacturer
properly pre-program and pre-tune your burner
at the factory. Leading companies are doing
this and the ones that do it the best are saving
hours on field commissioning time.

O.K., so mentioning the fuel-saving benefits of
a linkageless system grabbed your customer’s
attention. Now, to close the deal, here are the
top three things they should know about the
Siemens LMV system:
1. It’s user friendly. Programming and
commissioning of the LMV takes minutes, not
days – so your start-up time is brief and your
customer is up and running fast. The AZL
display provides fast, easy programming and
at-a-glance monitoring. It displays the current
burner status at all times, including flame signal
strength, firing rate and set point. Plus,
annunciation of over 500 standard fault
conditions enables fast troubleshooting. And, to
further enhance the ease-of-use, all models will
soon feature a backlit display.
2. It improves burner performance and
efficiency. SQM4 Linkageless Actuators provide
extreme accuracy for a burner. Driven by a
digital Can-Bus signal, the actuator’s movement
is accurate to 1/10th of one degree. A digital
feedback signal ensures the correct position is
maintained throughout the actuator’s
modulating range.
If an actuator should fall out of position, the
LMV Burner Management System automatically
locks out. This tight control ensures that the
burner will always perform with repeatability
and accuracy as well as within the
recommended safety parameters. SQM4
actuators are available in three torque ranges –
27, 180 and 320 in.-lbs. – to handle any type of
control needs. The bottom line? Accurate and
reliable controls that optimize fuel usage. And,
when a boiler has Siemens controls on it, it’s
going to perform better.
3. It’s reliable. And it’s got to prove it before it
even leaves the factory. We perform rigorous
testing – on every i/o function, every line of
code – so it’s ready to withstand the most
demanding applications.
Once installed, digital positioning feedback from
actuators ensure precise control, unmatched
repeatability and proven reliability. The
solid-state IR flame detector continuously
monitors the flame and filters line voltage
